The Wonder of Creation: 100 More Devotions About God and Science

I admire how Indescribable Kids & Co. has combined faith and science in this new book. Science fascinates our children, and they constantly question, “Why?” about everything.  My son’s questions seem to be never ending!  This book attempts to address such questions and in the process, it also teaches some basic science.

The author Louie Giglio is the Pastor of Passion City Church who founded the Passion Movement, that seeks to inspire generation to use their life to spread the gospel.  The devotions are like mini-lessons, including information and Bible passages regarding the theme of the day (only 100, not 365). Perfect for smaller children, but also for older children who have reached the age when they are having difficulty embracing God and are seeking deeper meaning and making associations.

What is in the book?

This book contains 100 short devotions divided into Space, Earth, Animals, and People.  It covers:
Space—from black holes to volcanic moons to gamma-ray bursts.
People—from optical illusions to brain freezes to our immune systems.
Animals—from honeyguide birds to flying snakes to white rhinos.
EarthRainbow, rivers, blue lava, flowing glaciers, and so much more.

Some of the other novels in the popular Indescribable Kids series include:

-Indescribable
-Indescribable for Little Ones
-How Great Is Our God

What we liked?

I could use this to expand on each virtue a day, sometimes we worked on a concept for a little more like 3-4 days.  We covered emotions like “how to not complain”, “What does surrender mean”, “What  kindness and empathy looks like” with relatable examples from the book.
Wonder of creation

My son could follow it up with reading for himself and this book went into his collection.  We were able to cover wide range of issues without having to have lengthy conversations.  It shifts the focus for a child from doubt to wonder and gratitude!

Who should consider?

This entertaining and educational book is suited for children
aged 6-10with engaging graphics and beautiful photos.
scientific fact or simple exercise for exploring religion, brief Bible passage,
and concluding prayer are included in each of the 100 devotions.
Also included are informative content callouts that invite kids to “Explore the Wonder”. In my opinion this copy serves as a great addition to homeschool STEM curriculum or bedtime reading routine for science-loving kids, Bible-loving kids, and any child ready to go deeper in faith.
